Daily Rhythm

Devotions from Brandon Bruce packed with inspiration and transformation, delivered fresh every day on this site or delivered to your email inbox!

“…and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” -2 Timothy 3:15-17

There’s a habit you can implement starting today that can change everything about your life and your future! If you’re already living this habit, you can add your agreement along with many others who’ve experienced it and this should serve as a reminder of why you keep going!

This transformational habit is reading and applying God’s Word every single day! Once you get into this rhythm in your life, everything changes over time!

You start to see God’s nature and understand who He is through His Word! We speak out of the overflow of our heart (Luke 6:45) and in a similar way, God’s written Word shows us God’s heart. We learn to trust Him, love Him, and discover how best to follow Him by reading or listening to the Bible.

In addition to finding God, you also find yourself in the Bible. Not only do you discover where you came from and where you are headed, but you learn why you behave the way you do! You also see glimpses of your best life and who you were created to be as a part of God’s great masterpiece! Everything starts to make more sense when you see the big picture in God’s Word!

By daily reading and applying the Bible to your life, you also find your best path forward! God’s Word helps us see how to get from where we are to where we are headed! God helps us make the right decision at each crossroads in life through the guidance of His Word and leading of His Spirit! God’s Word is a light on our path (Psalm 119:105).

Read or listen to God's Word every day and implement what you learn! In time, you'll start to see the absolute treasure the Bible is for your life and future! When that really happens, you won't let anything shake you off your daily rhythm of reading and applying God's Word!

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” -1 Timothy 6:17-19

You likely have someone else in mind when you hear the word rich. It’s usually a person who has more than you do, but there are so many people who would love to be in your situation and they would say you are rich! So, congratulations on being rich!

The Bible speaks to the rich and commands the rich not to be arrogant which can be a natural response when you have more than others! You may become arrogant by subconsciously thinking you are better because you have more, you think you worked harder, you believe you made better choices, or whatever other reasons you may point to as why you have more. However, every decision and every ounce of effort was only made possible because God gave you life and without Him you are “wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked” (Revelation 3:17).

Wealth is a terrible place to put your hope as it can be reduced and taken away so quickly through loss, theft, world economic changes, or decisions made by you, your heirs, or those you have trusted to manage your wealth. Wealth, like life, is very unpredictable and uncertain.

There is a more certain foundation to build your life on than wealth! God provides greater security and higher returns than wealth! When you place your true hope in Jesus, He can help you become rich in contentment (Philippians 4:12), rich in generosity, rich in the Spirit, rich in faith, hope, and love!

Wealth is a great tool that can provide life essentials for your family, open up possibilities and options you wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise, while also making life more comfortable. However, you were made for more than comfort! There is so much good you can do in the world to share the Gospel, build up the Church, and help those in need when you become rich toward God. A liability greater than debt is when money becomes your master and you are not rich toward God (Luke 12:20-21).

When you trust in God and not money, you learn that He is your great Provider! The Lord provides so richly for your enjoyment (v.17) because He loves and cares for you! Put Jesus first in your life and first in your finances so you can see the deeper peace and blessing of God that money can never provide!

They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.” -‭‭1 Timothy‬ 3‬:‭9‬-‭10‬, 13

It’s natural to serve yourself and take care of your own needs. It’s far less natural to serve God’s agenda by serving others, especially when it’s inconvenient. God created us to serve, and there are so many blessings that come from serving. Many people miss out on those blessings because of a misunderstanding of what is in their best interest.

When you serve others in Jesus name, you are walking in your divinely appointed purpose (Ephesians 2:10), which brings deep fulfillment! God created you to experience a certain type of gratification that cannot be filled by pursuing pleasure and chasing comfort. No matter how good life could ever be, you won't experience God's best life for you if all your efforts are excreted toward only helping yourself!

When you serve others, it brings joy to your heart when you see God using you to make a difference that will last in the lives of others! Serving also builds your character and accelerates your spiritual development! By serving, you gain a good and valuable reputation in God’s Church and are assured in your faith (v.13).

The demands of a busy life can easily consume all your energy, resources, and time while leaving nothing left to care for the concerns of others! Sometimes you can come through a difficult time or finish a season of life and think you are now done serving others. You may need a brief rest, but God is not finished with you! As long as you live, you have an opportunity to influence who will be in heaven and what happens on earth!

In addition to all the blessings God wants to bring into your life through using your gifts, time, and resources to serve others, He also wants to bless the lives of other people through you! Spiritual maturity is raising your vision beyond yourself and onto God’s concern for the world around you!

Don’t miss out on all the blessing and fulfillment God wants to deliver through serving others in Jesus name! This is your time to step into serving!
