The Blessing of Serving

They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.

Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.” -‭‭1 Timothy‬ 3‬:‭9‬-‭10‬, 13

It’s natural to serve yourself and take care of your own needs. It’s far less natural to serve God’s agenda by serving others, especially when it’s inconvenient. God created us to serve, and there are so many blessings that come from serving. Many people miss out on those blessings because of a misunderstanding of what is in their best interest.

When you serve others in Jesus name, you are walking in your divinely appointed purpose (Ephesians 2:10), which brings deep fulfillment! God created you to experience a certain type of gratification that cannot be filled by pursuing pleasure and chasing comfort. No matter how good life could ever be, you won't experience God's best life for you if all your efforts are excreted toward only helping yourself!

When you serve others, it brings joy to your heart when you see God using you to make a difference that will last in the lives of others! Serving also builds your character and accelerates your spiritual development! By serving, you gain a good and valuable reputation in God’s Church and are assured in your faith (v.13).

The demands of a busy life can easily consume all your energy, resources, and time while leaving nothing left to care for the concerns of others! Sometimes you can come through a difficult time or finish a season of life and think you are now done serving others. You may need a brief rest, but God is not finished with you! As long as you live, you have an opportunity to influence who will be in heaven and what happens on earth!

In addition to all the blessings God wants to bring into your life through using your gifts, time, and resources to serve others, He also wants to bless the lives of other people through you! Spiritual maturity is raising your vision beyond yourself and onto God’s concern for the world around you!

Don’t miss out on all the blessing and fulfillment God wants to deliver through serving others in Jesus name! This is your time to step into serving!

Right on?
